He came to her, held her hand through the seemingly endless conversation, pulled her close and planted a kiss on her right cheek and said, “ I love you”.
Then came the other, he walked endless miles with her, sang to her in her sleep, pulled her close and planted a kiss on her forehead and said, “ I love you”.
He said “I love you”
The other said , “I love you”
And another said, “ I love you”
She was spinning in circles.
Endless circles of different faces with the same words.
Some deep and promising, the others soft and comforting but they kept chanting the same words.
“I love you I promise I love you I promise I will be there for you forever and ever never leave you never hurt you”
And then silence.
Her head still spinning, she screams,
She’s tired of being the person they love. She’s tired of giving in, second chances, broken promises, she’s tired of these chaotic chants.
She screams again.
Hidden beneath their false pretense, the false confidence their love hath given her, her broken soul whispers,
“Take some time off to fall in love with yourself”
